JDN, Yes GSM is a widely accepted standard. More people are using it today than CDMA. However, when it comes to the wireless internet, CDMA is the best answer as far as cost and performance.

ERICY and NOK want to do this W-CDMA thing, but QCOM will have to give it their blessing because they have some of the key patents to make it work (they will give it a green light if they have to).

Meanwhile QCOM has all the cards on CDMA2000 et.al., but it seems nobody wants to pay all the royalties to a single company. Never mind that QCOM's technology is ready to go, and W-CDMA is still to be determined. Seems to me ERICY is going to wait until the last minute to really get deep into CDMA, and that will most certainly be too late.

Yes I have a large QCOM and ERICY position, but these are the facts as best as I know.
