Btb may be down but so is cycle down from approximately 10 months to 5 months at AMAT for example. What would you rather have 1.46 in a 10 month cycle or $1.26 in a five month. Do the math. As long as cycle trends down ahead of btb number we should be OK. At least 2 full years to go. The market is blowing smoke based on unwarranted fears. SOX will come back after a few more volatile sessions. What am I missing here?

Semiconductor equipment bookings have not flattened
completely, but they are definitely a lot flatter than they
were. The table below shows the month-over-month percentage
increase in the preliminary bookings. (I did not use
the revised figures because that would be comparing apples
to oranges.)

Month Bookings, Percentage Increase from
$Billion Previous Month

January 2.1778
February 2.2680 4.2%
March 2.4517 8.1%
April 2.7313 11.4%
May 2.7456 0.5%
June 2.7961 1.8%

1.8% monthly growth still works out to a pretty nice annual
growth rate, but it's a heck of a lot lower than it was. I
believe this is why the sector's stock prices have fallen
since April.
