"some Republican members of Congress revived the prospect of an investigation"

Too bad the article wasn't more specific about who is doing the reviving. With so little information, perhaps this is just wishful thinking on the author's part.

I have mixed feelings about an investigation. I'd like to see all the facts come out, but Congress hasn't shown itself well qualified in that regard. Too much posturing and too few facts.

I would like to be able to read the INS internal report.

Michael, I saw your post about your run-in with the police when you were a kid. How much do you suppose that affected your views on the behavior of the INS in this case?

I've had troops point guns at me, but that was in Uganda, not here. I've never had an unpleasant exchange with the police nor has anyone close to me.
