I think I may have done something fun today, but I am not sure yet. I've been drinking orange flavored Stolichnaya lately because it's on sale at the ABC this month, and it's very refreshing with lots of mandarin flavored soda water and ice. So I went into an ABC I'd never been in, and they had, not only lemon, orange and pepper flavored Stoly, the usual, but also peach, raspberry, strawberry and vanilla, which I've never tried, so I bought a bottle of all four.

Chris, Ben and Nick are at Little Wars playing Civilization, and I am about to sit down with the past week's newspapers and party alone. The peach actually sounds awful, think I'll start with the raspberry.

My birthday is August 30. The only thing I know that happened that day, other than my own illustrious birth, is the birth of Huey Long. I used to feel rather special when Huey Long Day was a holiday. I will be 48, and thus am much younger than you, you old codger.

Speaking of codgers, what exactly is a codger?

Speaking of peaches, four peach trees are too many, and I have no idea why I bought three Belle of Georgia peach trees, except that I liked the name. Only one tree is producing peaches, and we are already overwhelmed. I think once the trees start really producing, I may have to try selling them at the Farmer's Market.

Speaking further of peaches, I see, looking on the label on the bottle of peach flavored Stoly, that my mother's maiden name means peach in Russian.
