I work for Wall street companies, mostly on trading floors that use Unix. In most places that I have been where there are large number of machines of the same type of function, they try to standardize on the same brand, since it is much easier to support. Sun has been the choice in most. For example, UBS, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs all have Sun as their standard servers. From others that I know of by personal experience, such as Deutsche Bank, and DLJ are trying to move towards Sun. I also did a stint at PSINet and they too have standardized on Sun. I don't have the hard facts but it seems to me that much of Sun's growth comes from eating up the other Unix vendors.

Regards,
Phil
