Kent -- Thanks for ATML heads up. I've been reading quite a few comments speculating on JDSU splitting again so I went back to their archives, including pre-JDSFitel merger, to check out their history. July 6, 1999 JDSFitel merger final. July 8, 1999 annc stock split [record date July 23] Sept. 28 propose stock split [record date Dec 17, payment date Dec 29] Oct 4 Acquires EPITAXX Nov 4 annc OCLI acq Nov. 15 complete EPITAXX Nov 22 annc SIFAM acq Dec. 16 complete SIFAM Dec. 16 [split approved, record date Dec. 29] Jan 3 propose stock split [Record date Feb 25, payment date Mar 10] Jan 17 annc ETEK acq From what I can tell, JDSU has never announced a split while transacting a major acquisition. The split announcements were either made before the acquisitions were announced or after they were complete. Based on their history, I would find it surprising if they announced a split before SDLI closes. Just my novice opinion. . . Pat
