Michael, I purchased the Nikon Coolpix 800 for my brother a few months ago and I find it to be compact and lightweight. Most of all the controls are very simple and intuitive. I also like the zoom and autofocus functions which are almost silent. I think the only thing lacking really is a 3x zoom, although you can certainly get by with 2x zoom. Otherwise it is simply a fantastic entry level camera, especially at the this level of resolutuion and with the current price (less the rebate Nikon has extended through the Summer). Aus
