hi mitch,

happy to respond!

i don't know if you had the chance to read any of the linked pcworld magazine article on win2k, but as i recall, the overwhelming theme came down to these three points...

it's a bear to install, there are many compatibility issues, but once you get past these two, the os is more stable than any version of windows ever was.

my personal feeling is that i would love to go for it. i want that stability and the lack of resources drain. but i don't want to run an os without what i consider to be the major benefits of norton systemworks. and right now, symantec hasn't made their utility suite fully compatible with w2k.

so i wait.

i wish for your sake that some of the w2k fans would weigh in with their opinions and real-life experiences with the os. i found that the above-mentioned pcworld article filled that void admirably, however. there were some pretty knowledgeable computer folks cited in that piece about their experiences with w2k. it was solid reading.

i wish you well

:)

mark

IF your Win98 system runs smoothly almost all the time, there is no reason to change to W2000. OTOH, if you have frequent system crashes or resource constraints that get in the way of doing your work, by all means upgrade! I found the base install to be easy and problem free, as is day to day operation.
