Hi Cirruslvr; Actually, Intel does have competition in corporate for desktop. Corporations do buy computers from screwdriver shops, and AMD is well represented in that market.

In fact, the Athlons make very good workstations for engineers due to their floating point performance.

Cringe - Re: "The notebook and server Athlons probably won't make much of an impact other than HYPE this year, but I'm expecting these new areas to drive the growth in 2001. "

In 2001, Intel's notebook and Server line up will make major improvements - even over the advantage they have today in speed and power dissipation (notebooks) and server processing power - Willamette/Foster.

As Intel transitions to the 0.13 micron process, their advantages will improve even further - as Intel's Copper Metallization will contribute to those speed enhancements.

Intel, as always, is a moving target.

As they say with a declining stock " Better sooner rather than later" !
