Elmer - Re: "Latest SPEC2000FP scores have CuMine beating TTurd!"

Looks like a 950 MHz Coppermine with an 820/Rambus Board beats the 1 GHz CopperTurd from AMD in FP benchmarks.

It goes without saying that the 1 GHz Coppermine also beats the 1 GHz CopperTurd.

I wonder if AMD posted these results at Costco ?

Elmer, <Latest SPEC2000FP scores have CuMine beating TTurd!>

If you noticed, Intel is now using version 5.0 of their custom C++ and Fortran compiler. This improved Intel's SPEC2000fp (base) score from 273 to 304, an 11% increase. Both that compiler and AMD's new compiler (developed by Compaq) will be available this September.

Also, if you noticed, AMD hasn't published any SPEC2000int scores, possibly because Thunderbird couldn't beat Pentium III even with Intel's older compiler.

Elmer,

Proving that even when AMD uses an optimizing compiler, CuMine has better FP scores. The last excuse of the AMDroids is now laid to rest.

The term "optimizing compiler" covers a lot of territory. Intel has undoubtably applied vast resources to developing a top of the line SPEC compiler. Do you think AMD has the resources to do the same?

Dear Elmer:

On a unreleased compiler like you like to comment.
