"Smartland" reminds me of a story about a missionary preaching to a tribal chief. The missionary spoke at eloquent length of heaven and hell, until the old chief interrupted to ask whether the missionary would be going to heaven or hell. The missionary responded that as a man of God, of course he would be going to heaven, and asked the old chief where he would like to spend eternity. The chief answered "if you're going to heaven, I think I'd prefer hell".
