Rick: From what I have, 3Com doesn't appear to have optical know-how in-house. I was thinking they'd have to partner with or take over one of the smaller companies that have been working on this kind of development. But right now I can't put my hands on the info I collected last year. There was a Gilder report that mentioned a company called Softcom, but when I checked they've merged with a video delivery software company called IVT, and I can't find any mention of hardware developments. I'll keep digging. David T.
