I think you are right . . and wrong. While the index funds will not contain JDSU until the official date of the listing, the firms can accumulate shares prior to that. Not all of the shares needed are likely to be bought on the open market: large blocks of shares will probably be exchanged between fund accounts or purchased directly from institutions. If you want the best answer why not call one of the index funds directly?

I think you can judge what will happen based on an analysis of the charts from previous listed stocks.
