Great post. Hope you are wrong about market. I don't think Old Eco companies can put off computer upgrades for much longer regardless of interest rates, inflation etc. I too may be wrong but my guess is that BMC will rally from here in next 3-4 weeks as opposed to months.

Yep, BMCS is probably a better buy right now than CA. I wouldn't sink my whole wad into BMCS just yet, but I do think it has been dramatically oversold.

Having some substantial portion of the portfolio in cash right now is probably a pretty good idea. $ to buy the dips.

Interesting is the debate between trading and "buy and hold". I happen to do both. Made a killing on RMBS recently. Am pretty much out of it now.

Buy and hold is the best bet if you got the time horizon for it. Trading is gambling. Yeah, some are successful at it. I myself have done okay at it. But to _consistently_ over time trade and beat the market is virtually impossible. You're gonna get your lumps one way or another.

BMCS seems to be selling off leading up to the earnings announce. That's probably a good thing--shows that expectation are pretty darned low. My bet is that BMCS is pretty close to a bottom. Just one more dip... =-}
