I posted it without comment. I think it is very unlikely. To be this far along, AMD would pretty much had to have licensed Alpha from Compaq last year then pasted in an Athlon core while leaving the rest of it pretty much as is. And while that is only probably impossible, there would have been no way to do it without adding a lot more than 5% to the chip size.

AMD has surprised us way upside before, but I don't think this is going to be one of those times.
