HNC Software and Go2Net's Authorize.Net Join Forces to Bring Secure Credit Card Transactions to Online Businesses
July 24, 2000 12:34 PM Eastern Time
SAN DIEGO & PROVO, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 2000--HNC Software Inc. HNCS , a leading provider of predictive software solutions for service industries, and Authorize.Net, a leading global payment processing service and part of the Go2Net Network GNET , today announced an alliance in which HNC's eFalcon(TM) Internet fraud detection solution will be integrated into Authorize.Net's Internet payment gateway, providing e-commerce merchants a comprehensive and secure solution for processing online transactions.

Authorize.Net is dedicated to preventing fraud and establishing the Internet as a highly secure means of business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) commerce. As Authorize.Net's merchants process transactions through the company's Internet payment gateway, they will now have the option of screening their transactions for fraud through the combined technologies of Authorize.Net and eFalcon.

"This relationship with HNC underscores Authorize.Net's commitment to providing merchants with technology that enables them to conduct secure e-commerce and reduce the risk of fraud," said John Bodine, Authorize.Net executive vice president of global sales and marketing. "We believe that eFalcon is the strongest fraud detection system on the Internet today. Combined with our existing address verification service, this offering presents merchants with an affordable, cutting-edge fraud protection solution."

"We're committed to helping our partners provide the most secure payment platforms on the market," said Bruce Hansen, president of HNC Financial Solutions, a division of HNC Software. "By aligning with Authorize.Net's customer base, HNC has the ability to expand eFalcon's reach to an additional 82,000 online merchants worldwide."

Because online purchases are classified as "card not present" (CNP) transactions, merchants, rather than card issuers, are responsible for the chargebacks resulting from these transactions. Using sophisticated neural networks, scores, and rules to identify fraudulent shoppers in real-time on the Internet, eFalcon can dramatically reduce fraud losses, help improve customer relationships, and increase sales and revenue for online merchants and service providers.
