DS: Yes, the Internet is truly a great "equalizer". The ability to not only cull information that was once reserved for Libraries, but to be able to generate that information from others who have formed opinions based on their individual knowledge....that is real power!

Also, don't forget that all this information has to be encrypted (RSAS), and the driving killer app for all this bandwith need is (or will be) audio/video (RNWK), and it all sits on top of a mission-critical OS (WIND).

I know...shameful PR...

Thanks again :-)

John

"And it all requires bandwidth (go JDSU), network traffic management (go CSCO), and storage (go NTAP)."

Don't forget NT who configures and puts all those fiber optic 'black boxes' together and sells the complete solution to the telco's and SEBL whose software handles the sales and support of all of these wonderous solutions! Gee DS you kind of covered my portfolio! Outside of CSCO of course.. I put all of 'that' money into NT.

And it all requires bandwidth (go JDSU),

This choice puzzles me. You may have chosen JDSU for gorilla reasons... but what about going for the company that has software and IPR? I've done very well over the past year or so on Juniper Networks, and I identified them by thinking about the NTAP model: they take fairly standard network hardware and put their own high-margin unbeatable OS on it. Correct me if I'm wrong on JDSU, but they just make optical transmission components, no software, right? Do they hold significant IPR in this area, or are the barriers to entry strictly cost-based and economies of scale -based?

To me, picking (for investment) JDSU over Juniper or Sycamore is a bit like picking HMT Technology over NTAP.
