BT announces technology partners to light up the UK
Following a worldwide tender, BT today announced that Marconi and Nortel will be its strategic partners to build an all optical network to carry data and IP traffic using the latest technology.

This decision is part of the series of network development and investment plans announced last year to meet the explosive demand for data, and multi-media services.

Paul Reynolds, the chief executive of BT Wholesale said that this "tender award to Marconi and Nortel for leading edge technology in the core of the UK network shows BT's determination to remain as a leading communications player in the world and the supplier of choice for the new datawave products for IP, e-business, multi-media, mobility and data services".
