This is why there will be NO peaceful resolution of the Cuba issue: "i mean really absurd ... the planet is laughing at you." You CANNOT have peace while either faction looks at the issue in terms of winning/losing, or where one faction mocks the other. Just look at Northern Ireland, where people who have not stepped foot in Ireland for 40 years still gleefully contribute to their respective faction, and damned the cost. If the world "laughed" at Northern Ireland Catholics, what would be the result? I am certainly willing to allow peaceful self-determination in Cuba, but I am also very willing to do everything I can to prevent or avenge mockery or disrespect of my family. You cannot have peace between two determined factions unless BOTH sides desist from treating it as a game where one side wins and the other loses.
