Proven substitution threat And none is in sight for ORCL. Whether it represents a good buy at present prices considering the other opportunities available is another question. Probably the best time to buy a company like ORCL is in the midst of a general market collapse, since I can't see anything in company prospects that aren't widely known and discounted by the market. Longer term I might worry a bit that a man like LE so dominates the company that top management lacks depth. Gates doesn't mind having people around that are smarter than him, but LE???
