onurbius, Excellent post.
In addition to what you have stated---

After this one of two days, I get the feeling JDSU will settle at a higher price. So many people are anticipating a drop on the day of the addition or the day after that we could---go right into a short covering rally while the index funds keep increasing their weighting in JDSU to what it is supposed to be. I would think some will try to get half or so of their position by Wednesday and look for weakness to add the balance--in a sense "manage" their buying. JDSU addition is just so huge that they may not have a choice.

This market cap is just so big for them to plan it all in one day. In addition to the short covering, I believe there will be a lot of support for the stock in the coming weeks---causing it to move up. However, it is possible that they could want to add by month end so that their positions are aligned with the S and P 500 weightings----that could be huge for the stock if some big funds do this, IMHO.

I had thought funds were lightening up on JDSU to buy its competitors such as GLW. GLW is the next biggest optical stock not including the telecom equipment stocks like NT/LU. Now that plan could be on hold for some investors thanks to the GLW/NT rumors--and they stay in JDSU for longer......meaning supply/demand of the stock shifts slightly---which could mean big gains for the stock in the coming days and weeks.

Of course we are just speculating on what could happen.
Good luck.

onurbius,

Earlier you did a good job calling the "play behind the play" of how JDSU would be brought down after the acquisition announcement, only to rise later. Now the schedule seems accelerated by the S&P 500 windfall. What are your thoughts on where JDSU may go after the S&P addition?
