Have you tried charting what SNDK's normal PE/Price relative to its growth rate has been?

The biggest problem with historic PE's is that SNDK's has been all over the map. In any case, PE's don't tell the whole story. Because of SNDK's rapid growth rate I am somewhat reluctant to speak of PE's in the first place as they really don't do justice. But Mr. Market appears to want some measure of value against a generally accepted measuring stick and PE's are comforting in this regard. I think a more useful measure in this instance is the PEG (PE/G). Using this measuring stick we are in the range of 0.5 or less.

None of these measures credit "the story" that SanDisk tells. At this point I am not sure which is more appealing, "the story" or the PEG.

The comparison I tried to make recently is that between Symbol and SanDisk when they were both in the mid-$50's/share. Symbol's bar codes and bar code scanners revolutionized everyday life, but the rapid growth phase has now plateau'd, while SanDisk is just on the bottom leg of its growth curve. To award both companies similar PE's is just insane. That was the point I was trying to make in earlier discussion. If you look at the time from $250 million/year in total revenues to $1 billion/year in revenues it took Symbol about a decade to achieve this. SanDisk will likely achieve this in only 3 years...

As soon as this type of robust growth is detected by the fund managers we should see a rapid appreciation in price. Until then it requires patience and stamina.

Hi all been a while since I posted. I just returned from a week in New York. Trip was wonderful and MacWorld was impressive. Saw numerous products that utilized SanDisk Flash and MMC and SanDisk was present as well. Sony Had a small booth that was unimpressive at best. Epson, Canon and HP all showed several products that worked with Flash including Printers, Cameras and MP3 players. I-Jam was present as well and SanDisk is all over their web site.

I spent some time talking with the SanDisk team and mentioned some of the ideas and concerns brought up on this thread. One point that they made to me regarding the invisibility of SanDisk to the mainstream investor when I suggested they do a marketing program to bring more exposure to themselves was that no image is far better than a negative image.

Considering the curve balls thrown on CNBC I can understand their point. I seen several stocks tank recently because of some negative comment or expectation built up by the media hype. At this point SanDisk is proving itself by it's performance. I for one remain bullish on this company and respect the guidance of Eli. Good luck to all SanDisk Longs.
