Concerning recent merger with JDSU, SDLI chose JDSU over GLW because close relationship CEO of SDLI had with physicists and other scientists at JDSU. He was just more comfortable with them.(IMHO) I have no doubt that played a role in the final decision. I heard something to the effect GLW was stodgy, which made me think their management styles may have differed. This came through the grapevine, not from SDL's management. That the two CEOs have known each other for years and still want to work together says a lot.
