someone as me about the pc sector, he is my response.

I think the PC sector doesn't matter nearly as much as it used too, but that seems to be my thinking, since the market sold off on the news. But, I feel the market was just looking for a reason, even if it was a poor one. Take look at what is happening in the communication sector, and look at how well SUNW is doing, PWER is doing great, they have to be selling servers and power supplies to someone, and there is on going component shortages, all that feeds into my thinking that PC sector is not that important as it used to be.

I'm adding this. People now can access the internet from more devices then the PC, such as handhelds, cellphones, internet terminals/phones, we are at just the beginning of mobile and dumb terminal internet access so we will see more of this. So the PC importance will change, maybe it's happening already. I have always contented that the PC will move to the basement or closet and become a homeserver. Home networks will further this evolution along. We will install PC/Server like a furnace and they will be installed in all new homes, it will be just another appliance where the real power is seen in the network. Real nirvana will be when we get fiber to the curb or some other fast connection to our houses other then pokey cable or xDSL provides now.
