It seems like Q main is holding back just enough licenses to be the only source of ultimate royalties, but this gives flexibility for SpinCo to make cross-licenses without giving access to the whole store (Q-main).

I really wonder about the operations though. Will they stay housed in the same buildings, managed by the same people? What about the oft mentioned connection between engineers working on ASICS and those developing new IPR. How will they maintain these connections and incentives to cooperate?
Hope these are non-issues given the way they organize spin-co.

The good news is that one would expect that there will be an announcement of a license with Mot or Nok either coincident with the IPO announcement or shortly thereafter since this solution obviously emerged from discussions with these two about how to get W-CDMA licenses for these guys, or at least get GSM licences for Q.
