Based on the net changes in the deferred revenue account, the UbiNetics upfront payment as a result of the TDMA license signed during the second quarter was something like $7 million. UbiNetics already has design wins with Motorola (telematics) and Orange (data-centric apps). Motorola telematics products are being designed into GM and BMW product lines in Europe. Orange, which is now part of France Telecom (30m subs), is generally considered to be one of the most aggressive R&D and marketing outfits in Europe so that upfront payment will probably be used up quickly, probably as early as this Christmas season, and start contributing to the recurring royalty stream soon.
