I respectfully disagree with the conclusions stated in your post re back end book to bill.

A btb of 1.09 means that the backlog increased by 9% of Billings. Nothing else.

The only information imparted is that orders were 9% greater than shipments billed.

Before one could form any conclusions about unit output and its growth rate is to look at the actual magnitude of orders and the trend in that number, not the ratio.
