Some have a narrow view in setting unrealistic price targets over very near term windows ($80 for example within a quarter). Its not going to happen

That sounds like an old bizarro jedi mind trick designed to deaden one's sense of proportion. <g>

One good example is the UbiNetics upfront payment deduced to be around $7 million.

That may seem modest, but IDCC only has 56 million shares outstanding. To get the same EPS impact, the equivalent amount for a Qualcomm with over 800 million shares outstanding would be $100 million.

Or take IDCC's projected royalties for 2000 of around $20 million excluding new licensees. That has the same EPS impact as $285 million in royalties for a Qualcomm with 800 million shares outstanding.
