Re: "Only on SPECfp. In the REAL world, Intel is slower. Check QMC, Moldyn, Linpack, software rendering, POVray, visualization, etc. Here AMD is faster, sometimes much faster than Intel"

The K7 architecture does better on legacy code. No argument there. I prefer to look toward the future when code will be optimized to take advantage of design enhancements. There CuMine outperforms K7.

Re: "What do you think of the rumors that P4 does not benchmark as fast as AMD or P3 (even with a clock rate advantage)?"

I haven't seen any P4 benchmarks but Scumbria tells us we shouldn't expect P4 to perform as well as P3 clock for clock, just like K7 doesn't. The advantage will be in higher clock rate. Maybe he's right?

Intel will invent the benchmarks to make Willy look good. (TM-McMannis). They might even have Elmo working on it now.
They will surely rely on pure Mhz if need be...
