Welcome back, Gary. Kmart is going upscale with Martha Stewart. I love their new wirecages for displays. But the retailers have a problem not knowing where the customers are dropping their money. Supermarkets slowed. Retailers slowed. Vacationers are no where in sight. Weather is nice, here in New England. In the old economy, this is the presidential election year, and the business cycle is coming again. In the new economy, the productivity is great. Every one has earnings surprises on the upside. But the sales revenue were held back, because spending is delayed waiting to know the advantages of servers and thin clients. Thin clients will enable 0% unemployment in America. Software has to be changed to ASP/Citrix type. Until that decision is made, things in the digital world slowed down. What is the product obsolescence and replacement in retail? In the automobile world they have "crossover" designed, last year. Auto business will be good for another year, based on the future of "crossovers" in American's ever present dream of driving new vehicles. So here we are in the mid stream deciding what else can be new in this new economy? AMES will have a trial with data warehouses to learn what their customers really, really, really, really, really want? Some times it is not what they always wanted to buy(possibly saturated in the local market already?), but what they have not been able to buy yet locally. Still many things to learn from what data is not in the data warehouses. Hopefully, they will turn into a super company, profit and loss statements for each store, at any time within the hour.
