Hi!

Becoming an ip only company has been the plan since the founding of the company, Libbyt. Nothing new for those of us watching for years. The whole thrust now will be to develop gsm, wcdma and cdma 2000 asics. The stock market torture of the last three months appears to have touched a nerve and QCOM is getting more aggressive claiming all 3g modes: they were less aggressive until the past couple weeks, but I get the feeling all the bs out of NOK and ERICY, all the pr suggesting that w-cdma was nokia's...and nok never issued a correction, finally pissed management off enough to get the pr machine rolling. Now they are threatening NOK with 5% royalties on wcdma if they don't sign immediately.

It is just a matter of time. Keep in mind that QCOM's pe on 1/3/00 was an absurd 250 with a 50% growth rate. The slide has been about nothing but a valuation adjustment. However, I still think that any purchases over 130 will still look pretty good over 4 or 5 years.
