Qualcomm sees IPO for Spinco by fall

NEW YORK, July 25 (Reuters) - Mobile phone technology company Qualcomm Inc. (NasdaqNM:QCOM - news) will carry out its initial public offering of its planned spinoff Spinco semiconductor business in the fall, Chairman and Chief Executive Irwin Jacobs said on Tuesday.

He told a news conference Qualcomm would offer less than 10 percent of the planned spinoff's shares in the IPO, while Qualcomm retains the remainder of the shares.

The offering will be followed by a six-month lockup period of the shares. Those shares then will be offered to Qualcomm shareholders.

``Sometime after that distribution, they would be completely separate companies,'' Irwin said.

A Qualcomm spokesman later said the company expects the spinoff to be completed by August 2001 at the latest.

Is Keene still ripping off other peoples ideas....geez. I don't know if PMSI has done anything about it.

There was one copycat bowl that came out when I was working for my dad (hmmm, come to think of it, it might have been Keene...lol), but it was too expensive a propostion to do anything about it. It was a inferior product, so it never sold that well.

My father had several other concentrators and winches he was selling. I can get you more info about those from my brother.

I doubt PMSI has altered the design. We were originally hand molding the first units in a 2 piece aluminum mold fitted to a homemade press. What a job that was. The original price then was $89.95. We made em that way for several years. Then my dad had a injection mold made and the price came down to $79 or so. Then a year or so after my father passed away, PMSI bought the mold and rights to the patent.

By the way, Franks picture is on PMSI's website......hmmm..just saw it.

Regards,

D.
