vaporware earnings .coms are yet to prove they will ever be worth anything (except a
tremendous tax-loss write-off).

There is a problem here. There are no earnings against which to write off taxes if you are referring to the acquisitions by Amazon.

By the way, I believe the "first mover advantage" was/is a disadvantage.
