My recent visit to HDI:

I visited HDI on Friday July 28 for almost 3 hours. I was treated well. Kevin spent the entire time with me, first giving a tour of the facility and then discussing the current situation, plans for future growth, and some interesting stuff in general about holograms. I saw five employees including Kevin, and 2 more were said to be on vacation currently. Among the five were Vitali Prisicar and Jeff Weil.

Jeff is clearly excited about his work and quite articulate. Kevin seems proud of HDI's ability in applied holography and their ability to create very workable homemade devices at low cost. While it is clear that HDI is currently quite lean, it was encouraging to see enthusiasm.

I had indicated prior to visiting that I primarily was concerned about two issues: I was looking for some direct evidence of proof of their claims with regard to the audit and the new printer technology. I feel that they addressed both issues adequately.

With regard to the audit, I was given the name of their auditor as well as permission to call the director. The audit firm is well known in the Miami area, with approx. 100 employees. A top employee of the firm confirmed that work has been completed on years through 1999, as we have been told. Additionally, the attorneys are addressing some issues which, followed by a final review by the auditors, should allow for filing with the SEC. These comments correspond with what HDI has been saying.

With regard to the technology, 3 similar sample holograms were designed and printed in 20-40 minutes each. They are 1 inch square, are in 2D (not 3D), and are 1000 dpi. A professional has indicated that it would take them roughly 20 hours to create a similar hologram on their printer. Another industry expert has indicated that he is familiar with their technology and that they may 'have something'.

I will not speculate here on how bad or good things really are or on how promise might translate to profit down the road. My goal was to address primarily those two issues to see if the things we have been hearing for some time have any validity. It appears that they do. Hope remains (for me, anyway).
