Darrell,
Hi!!

RE: IDC/Dataquest redefine their categories and come up with a 22% growth rate this quarter (probably more accurate) and many in the financial press fall apart. Yet, the rate is substantially the same as Dell's combined rate for last qtr. and the two qtr.s before that.

Actually, Dell's growth is being made up in the Enterprise, Laptop, Peripheral, and Service divisions. Peripheral sales increase exponentially as more and more people own PCs worldwide. IDC/Dataquest's redefinition of this category left out Dell's own definition of included peripheral sales.

Well we have a few more days to wait...The numbers will prove it all on the 10th...The Enterprise IMO will be up significantly carrying with it the margins...Europe will still be a drag but hopefully the Enterprise will more than make up for this weakness...The services I'm sure will not be broken down...Although this should push that margin...IMO DELL .25cents...I might add, I'm low according to someone else...The operating expenditures should improve...DELLVENTURES is included in both cases...
Care to give an estimate?

Best, Kemble
