So QCOM can just put out a W-CDMA chip without paying a sole?

No. SPINCO puts out a WCDMA chip without paying a sole, except for x-licensing. QCOM ain't gonna make any chips.

has the lack of firm standard for W-CDMA changed? NO,

Agreed. So SPINCO can produce a multimode 2.5G chipset right now!

You may be right about the end of 2001 being the significant money flows, but it will be more money than what would have been without SPINCO. Perhaps the money will not flow appreciable sooner, but it will flow FASTER when it does flow.

I am still in the information gather mode, when it comes to the timing of all this. (LOL)
