Here is the broadcom intraday chart again from the day it was added. The ramping started from a intraday drop off 10+ points from the open.

Nick, Thanks for posting that street.com article. This guy has been providing good commentary on the S and P addition for JDSU. I also agree with that columnist that JDSU should be strong tomorrow.

I think JDSU is not a VRTS nor a Yahoo. When Yahoo was added it was thought to be too speculative a stock for people to not dump it upon addition. VRTS had problems. However, JDSU is considered a legitimate company (maybe even more so than BRCM). Therefore it should move up like BRCM and add to the gains in the coming weeks, IMHO.

good luck

Nick --

Thanks for the excellent article on indexing. It answered a lot of questions, though the key one can't be answered --- where will JDSU close on Wednesday.

But either way, I suspect that the short-term morning-after effect is another consequence of the games-within-games played by traders, brokers and indexers. The most likely culprit is the broker who has to buy more stock to "ramp the close" than his indexer client really wants to buy. That means he's holding the bag the next morning and needs to get out in a hurry.

I'm suspecting the games have already begun. Never in over two years have I seen JDSU or SDLI fail to move when the Nasdaq responded as it did today.

I'm not sure whether to load up on Valium or Champagne. :)
