Hi!!

RE: Dell states "25%" based on conversations with current IT managers, i.e., "I wish you could do it all - save us time and money..." etc. If this is what the IT managers are telling Dell, why would they be facetious, or why should we believe Kumar over Dell's conversation with potential buyers?

This is what I learned at Chelsea Pier a year ago June...I heard it first hand from a few ...

Darrell, RE: IT managers could insist on EMC; but if Dell's solution is 15% less costly reference complete installation, all included, then standard or no, Dell gets the business. They need the products to offer.

You know, Darrell, that makes sense, and logic would seem to argue that this is the most likely scenario.

The problem is, there are comparable solutions out there that aren't just 15% less, but 50% less. IBM, CPQ, Hitachi et. al. have tried to steal market share away from EMC by just about making storage a loss leader. It doesn't matter; everyone insists on paying the extra $$ and installing EMC equipment.

It's going to take some serious R&D to supplant EMC, not efficient manufacturing. That's why I don't see DELL having great success in this area, it just doesn't play to DELL's strengths.
