It is our belief that to discipline a child or to just tell a child no, does no good. a child will do much better making up thier own minds and the reason will become part of thier hearts. Here is the story of Nolka, a little boy who wanted to play in the swamp. The swamps where I live are large and very dangerous to be. Only an experienced Abenaki can pass through this swamp safely. Well, one day Nolka tells his mother that he is going to go play in the swamp. Mother knowing quite well that telling Nolka no, would not change his mind and he would go anyway as he was an adventerous Boy. So mother decided to tell Nolka that it was OK, but to be sure to watch out for toadwoman who lived in the swamp. this got Nolkas attention, mother he says, who is toadwoman? ahm, says mother, toad woman is a beautiful woman who lives in the swamp. from a distance she looks very beautiful and attracts all the young boys who go into her home. When you see toadwoman you can not resist to walk towards her as she is very beautiful from a distance. But when you get close to her, you will find out she has a very large toad faced head with a very large mouth, so she can eat the young boys. Mother now says, so go ahead Nolka and play in the swamp, but watch out for toadwoman. at this, Nolka tells his mother, no mother I think I will go play on that very large hill over there! The moral of the story is nolka convinced himself that the swamp was not such a good idea just yet, but eventually he would go into the swamp anyway, and with this story, he will be well alert looking all around for toadwoman and all the dangers which live in the swamp. Goodluck my friend
