The point is, that Intel believes that PC133 is fast enough for Willy.

IF the story is correct, and IF Intel isn't just blowing smoke to reduce the number of chipset vendors who might consider doing a PC133 chipset.

We'll have to see, won't we.

High bandwidth memory is a don't care for most users.

Actually, I was making almost the same point last year when people were thinking we'd see a "Rambus Inside" campaign. The users of PCs don't care about the performance on individual components -- they buy a system, not a bunch of components. And the good news is for those customers who want performance systems, if you look at the product line-ups from the major vendors, almost all the systems positioned as performance systems are RDRAM-based (Gateway may be the last major holdout, though I think they're coming out with an RDRAM-based system).
