The option will NOT be worth more prior to the spin-off.

Unless you are referring to one day's worth of time premium disappearing each day.

Or -- you are saying you KNOW that the price of "Spinco" will be down every day starting the day of the spin-off.

Art, there is no way an option holder will be left holding the bag after the spin off. You bought the option for the whole company at the time. When Q does the spin off, your option...to remain whole...must retain the spin off value as well as the remainder. It will probably be treated just like the LWIN situation was.
