Tony re <<Just some individual server type numbers: Compaq has about 50 percent of the 4-ways and about 80% of the 8-ways sold.>>

Wow, I had no idea. That does not leave much for Dell and the rest.

Are all these servers use Xeon chip or some other Intel chips as well? Do you have any idea about the unit volume for either the number of boxes or number of CPU's?

Tony - RE: "Compaq is the largest Intel based server vendor. Leader in overall servers of all kinds shipped is probably still IBM, at least in revenue. Compaq may be catching them in boxes, though. Just some individual server type numbers: Compaq has about 50 percent of the 4-ways and about 80% of the 8-ways sold."

Ahh, the server guy has replied to my question. ;) Thanks for that info.

So Compaq may be the largest Intel/IA32 server vendor? Kinda says something about the Athlon platform IF Compaq decides to use it in servers, don't ya think?
