Its conclusion is very simplistic and superficial. The situation is much more nuanced. You can't just tally up the shares that have traded and come to some ironclad conclusion a full day before the add. CNBC is guilty of this as well, but I think they are relying on this same piece of analysis. I think there will be lots of twists and turns in JDSU between 9:30 and 4:00, and the astute and cagey traders will find profitable opportunites. DJB long jdsu common and calls

On 7/21/00 CNBC MarketWeek, Paul Meeks of Merrill Lynch called JDSU play of the week (7/24). The stock closed on 7/21/00 around $135. The price is now below 7/21/00 close. Check it out yourself: cnbc.com Few weeks back, he called AMCC correctly. JDSU didn't run up as they claim if you look from the angle of intra-day time. 7/20/00 Thursday, gap up at 126 or so for 3 million or so shares. Then it stayed between 124 and 126 most of the day. On Friday, 7/21/00, went up $7. Monday and Tuesday downhill. Other than MM gap opened up the stock on 3 million or so shares on THURSDAY, THIS STOCK has been churning and going nowhere. So, make your own judgement. We have to wait and see now.... Thanks.
