<<...........ratio of 44 for Antec Corp. and 66 for C-Cor.net Corp., two other makers of cable equipment.
Well this had to make you feel good: considering Antec & C-Cor are pretty far down the value chain compared to SFA...>>

``I think there are better places, particularly within the cable-equipment area, to have your money,'' said Eric Buck, an analyst at Wasserstein Perella Securities Inc. who has a ``hold'' rating on Scientific-Atlanta. ``The market tends to get overly exuberant at times when we're going through periods of rising expectations.'' ............

I always feel good when a bonehead analyst says something nice, but just remember, he's another bonehead analyst. When I went long on SFA, I tried going long on ANTC and thought about GI and CCOR. What dogs -- no technical leadership and little earnings growth. SFA is gonna run away!

Outstanding earnings report!
YES !!! 0.35 vs. 0.26 !!!
0.35 vs. 0.26
Estimates were for shipments of about 750,000 digital set-top boxes. WE SHIPPED 835,000 units WITH MORE THAN 1 MILLION ON ORDER!!! Backlog at the end of the quarter was 1.5 million units!
And production capacity is now at one million units per quarter! So imagine how well are we going to do NEXT QUARTER!!!

Demand is from large customers, including Charter Communications, Adelphia Communications, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Comcast Cable Communications, Rogers Communications, and Le Groupe Videotron…A virtual who's who of the interactive TV world.

The company also introduced the cable industry's first ``carrier class'' optical network for interactive services, including voice. In conjunction with this product introduction, the company announced a 50% increase in channel capacity for its Dense Wave Division Multiplexing, or DWDM, optic transmission technology.

PowerTV has sold nearly 3 million licenses. Combine this with SFA's announcement today that orders for a full range of its HFC network solution have been placed by Furukawa Industrial S/A Produtos Eletricos, a system integrator, which was selected by Adelphia Brazil, a Brazilian subsidiary of Adelphia Communications, as part of an ambitious project to build CATV and data networks in 13 Brazilian cities in nine states of Brazil over the next four years. Furukawa by the way is the largest sharholder in JDSU!

Ahhhh…good luck to everyone,
Eric
