Neo, [ completely off topic ]

I just "got" a 40 year old joke while I was taking a shower just now. In the TV show Bewitched, Samantha's mother's name Endora is a sly reference to the Bible's King Saul's Witch of Endor.

How could I have missed that all these years?

they changed stories on you
Yes, it changed, I notice the link is to today's news which seems to change every day.

The article was about Ben Strong, the gregarious son of a preacher who was said to have displayed remarkable courage when he disarmed Michael Carneal, the 14-year-old killer who opened fire on a prayer group at Heath High School West Paducah Ky on Dec. 1, 1997.

It seems he did not disarm the attacker nor do anything much but duck. He did join the "speaking/preaching circuit" of fundamentalists churches though with his tales of courage until such time that he was required to relate the events under oath in a court.

Later in the article was the account of Columbine victim Cassie Bernall, was widely described as having answered ``yes'' when one of the two killers asked her whether she believed in God. She was killed, it was said, for her faith. After books were written about her martyrdom witnesses reported that the ``yes'' most likely came from another student, Valeen Schnurr, who survived.

(very hard to read or post on SI today again. Next time SI has a special thank you to it's members, I hope it doesn't involve doubling the number of members again without upgrading the equipment)
