Uh, let me see here, a catalyst for buying PALM: perhaps the fact that it is the major player, with the largest market share, in an emerging market (PDAs)that has the potential to become one of the premiere technologies of the near future?

I remember a few years back there was this podunk company, I think its name was Micro something -- oh yeah, Microsoft, and it had this ... oh never mind, nothing much ever came of it.

Just kidding. But jeez, I can think of no better catalyst for buying PALM, unless you're looking for a new product line, competitive advantage, upside to earnings, or whatever. If that's the case, I suspect PALM has any number of announcements to come after the spinoff in two days that could spur buying or short-covering.

RE:PALM shares are difficult to borrow to short

Short COMS instead, if you are serious.
