btw, one thought about the upcoming ipo of luminent... just to look at both sides of the story, i went through the thought process of why it actually might make sense to follow the ipo with a spinoff of the remaining shares to shareholders.... i know, financially, it doesn't seem to make a tremendous amount of sense....i've already discussed that. but upon further consideration, i've put to rest some of my fears. sure, it would be nice to see MRVC build a cash war chest by using their shares (keeping the price up by not totally spinning off luminent; therefore, not having to reduce the stock price on the spinoff and being able to use shares for acquisitions), but they should garner PLENTY of cash from the ipo.... further, they should get cash from any deals in Zuma (possibly up to $2bil), Jolt, iTouch, etc. So, cash or shares for acquisition may not be that important. also, this will likely be the only division that they can actually spin on a tax-free basis. also, look at the fact that Luminent is currently selling to competitors of many of their divisions, and you get the feeling it might make sense to remove themselves from that situation. it's difficult to tout a router product from one of your divisions against competition and then, in turn, sell that same competition optical components.... guess we'll see soon enough (well, maybe not soon ENOUGH, but soon)!

Greg h2o, thanks for that about Luminent earnings. This sell off is scary, we CAN'T be going into another correction, can we???? This is the fourth down day, except for a really weak up day yesterday, in a row. But we just got out of the last correction. What is up???? I told myself when the current up trend started at the end of May that when I see three big down days in a row, watch out. It isn't just MRVC going down today, most stocks are. I am following about 60 of what I feel are the best bets to trade and all but five are in the red today. Not good.
