Individual rights and property rights have been greatly harmed and compromised by BOTH Democrats and Republicans. The key is that both political parties are members of a larger, unspoken party: the federalist party. It is not really a political party, but a Hamiltonian idea on the structure of a centralized government. Both Republicans and Democrats, by design or ignorance, have systematically destroyed many of the freedoms Americans once enjoyed. This process is nothing new... it has been going on since before the Civil War. It has, however, begun to noticeably accelerate since the 1930s. FT
