There are many travesties being committed against real individual rights. "Land of the free" does not mean what it once did. Many politicians (now called "lawmakers" by the media... does that tell you something?) are great at mouthing platitudes about liberty while diminishing freedoms with their next proposed piece of legislation. As I said, both parties are guilty. What you accuse Reagan of is nothing compared to Bill-Hillary's socialized medicine program if it had gotten through.
