Yes, and besides, he had a good raising. It did not escape the notice of reporters in the South at the time that a lot of people who were moderate or liberal on the question of race would have been considered conservatives in any other part of the country: patriotic, religious, believing in personal responsibility and the sort of opportunity that the free market affords, and so on.........
